Hand Soldering Technician

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated EMS PCB Hand Soldering Technician to join our manufacturing team. This role involves precise manual soldering of printed circuit boards (PCBs) using hand tools and soldering techniques to ensure high-quality electronic assemblies. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, electrical knowledge, and experience working with surface mount technology (SMT) components. This position plays a vital part in producing reliable electronic products by adhering to strict quality standards and technical specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Perform manual soldering of surface mount and through-hole components onto PCBs following detailed schematics and IPC 610 standards.
  • Inspect solder joints for quality, ensuring compliance with IPC 610 workmanship standards.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, calipers, and other measuring devices to accurately assemble and verify components.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly instructions to ensure correct component placement.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work area and equipment to uphold manufacturing safety and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot assembly issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist in preparing PCBs for testing by verifying solder joints and component placement.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to hand soldering processes and quality control.
Skills
  • Proven experience with PCB assembly, particularly hand soldering techniques for surface mount technology.
  • Strong understanding of electrical wiring, schematics, and mechanical assembly processes.
  • Knowledge of IPC 610 standards for electronic assemblies.
  • Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is a plus.
  • Ability to use precision measurement tools such as calipers and ohmmeters accurately.
  • Mechanical aptitude with experience using hand tools, power tools, and machining equipment.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting skills and electrical experience are desirable.
  • Excellent attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to follow technical instructions precisely.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members across manufacturing functions.
